The original 1963 and 1964 Avantis were available in three forms - $4,445 R-1, $4,655 R-2, and $5,665 R-3 - and were considered America's only true high-performance four-passenger luxury GTs, despite competition from Buick's Riviera and Ford's Thunderbird.
The Studebaker Avanti is quite rare, especially the 1964 model, with only 809 units ever produced. Therefore, seeing one on the road is a real treat. This particular 1964 Avanti R-1 is powered by a 289CI V8 engine, which includes chrome valve covers and an air filter, and is paired with a 3-speed automatic transmission and 3.34 gears. The interior features red metallic vinyl bucket seats and a white vinyl-wrapped padded dashboard. The interior was ahead of its time, with all the custom details and controls layout.
